Pre-Career Fair Week
About
The Pre-Career Fair Week will be hosted by the Student Engineers’ Council from January 12th to January 23rd. The goal of this week will be to prepare students for the Career Fair and to encourage all students to attend the fair in person. SEC will also be hosting a Donut Day, Need-to-Know Event, Resume Workshop, Elevator Pitch & Career Fair Strategies Event, LinkedIn Workshop, and Career Fair Office Hours. Free food will be provided at all events and SEC members will be tabling by Zachry Engineering Building throughout the week to answer any questions students may have and increase awareness about the Career Fair and its related events.
Note: Registration is not required for all events and the dress code is casual.

Donut Day

Need-to-Know Event

This event aims to help students prepare for the Career Fair and the Pre-Career Fair Week Events. The goal is to provide guidance on the different resources and events available to help students prepare for the career fair. This event will also provide information regarding rules for the Career Fair and how to navigate company search and the career fair venue all in preparation for the upcoming Career Fair.
Resume Workshop

The SEC will host a hybrid resume workshop, inviting experts from the Career Center to speak about the do’s and don'ts of writing an effective resume. The Career Center will also provide guidance on how to construct and format a resume.
LinkedIn Workshop

This event, in collaboration with the Career Center, aims to help students create compelling Linked-In profiles. The goal is to provide guidance on constructing and delivering a beneficial Linked-In profile that effectively introduces who they are and communicates their interests and accomplishments in preparation for the upcoming Career Fair.
Elevator Pitch & Career Fair Strategies

The SEC, in partnership with the Career Center, will host an in-person workshop designed to help students confidently present themselves to recruiters and deliver compelling elevator pitches. Participants will also learn effective career fair strategies, including how to approach employers, make lasting impressions, and navigate the career fair successfully to strengthen networking efforts and job prospects.

The SEC will host an event designed to equip students with the information and resources they need to confidently navigate the upcoming Career Fair. The aim is for students to be able to stop by and get any last-minute questions answered or pick up any resources they may need before attending the Career Fair.
