Pre-Career Fair Week
About
The Pre-Career Fair Week will be hosted by the Student Engineers’ Council from August 19th to August 29th. The goal of this week will be to prepare students for the Career Fair and to encourage all students to attend the fair in person. SEC will also be hosting a Donut Day, Resume Workshop, an Elevator Pitch Workshop, Student Panel, and a Networking and Interview Workshop hosted by Lockheed Martin. Free food will be provided at all events and SEC members will be tabling by Zachry Engineering Building throughout the week to answer any questions students may have and increase awareness about the Career Fair and its related events.
Note: Registration is not required for all events and dress code is casual.

Donut Day

Elevator Pitch Workshop
- Date: Thursday, August 22nd, 2024
- Time: 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
- Location: Zachry Engineering Building (ZACH 200)
The SEC in partnership with the Career Center will host an in-person workshop to teach students how to confidently present themselves to recruiters and deliver memorable elevator pitches that will aid students in securing job offers and networking themselves.
Resume Workshop
- Date: Tuesday, August 27th, 2024
- Time: 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
- Location: Zachry Engineering Building (Chevron Rooms)
The SEC will host a hybrid resume workshop, inviting experts from the Career Center to speak about the do’s and don'ts of writing an effective resume. The Career Center will also provide guidance on how to construct and format a resume.
Lockheed Martin Networking & Interview Workshop
- Date: Wednesday August 28th, 2024
- Time: 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
- Location: Zachry Engineering Building (Chevron Rooms)
The SEC will be partnering with Lockheed Martin to hold a presentation on developing useful networking habits that could help them to land an interview. The presentation will cover content on how to go about reaching out to recruiters, what content to discuss and when a student does land an interview useful tips to help navigate the challenges that come with it. This event works to develop a new opportunity that fosters professional advancement by allowing students to improve their networking and interview skills
Roadmapping Social

- Location: Zachry Engineering Building (ZACH 200)
The SEC will host a social event that is aimed to help students identify the direction they would like to take in their future careers through socializing with students with industry and higher course knowledge. Students will be encouraged to engage in conversation about companies at the career fair that they would like to talk to based on their interests within the industry.
SEC Career Fair Student Panel

The SEC will be hosting a diverse student panel with previous internship experience who will share their advice and insight on the Career Fair. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions about how to best approach the Career Fair, what to expect in the interview process, and what to look forward to in the internship itself.
